It goes like this... B Updates:  They're the Patch Tuesday Updates.  "The big updates most people are familiar with come out on “Patch Tuesday,” the second Tuesday of the month. These are called “B” updates because they’re released in the second week of the month. That explains why there are no “A” updates, as Microsoft doesn’t generally release updates in the first week of the month. B updates are the most important updat...

Ran across this little gem this morning... Looks like Chrome took all the marbles...First Mozilla caved and Fire Fox's engine became Chrome...and then there was one, and now... Link:  https://m.windowscentral.com/microsoft-building-chromium-powered-web-browser-windows-10

I've been reading about this upcoming October update to W10. It won't be especially huge, just the same, 10 or so Gigs might give someone a problem of an incomplete download. This is a very useful tool for the upcoming W10 October update. You may need this if the above occurs: Windows will not tell you this is happening and Windows might get borked. Saw this and it really bothered me, although by this time it really shouldn't have. At any rate, store your bookmarked sites on your desktop (use the export function under bookmarks), just in case MS decides to uninstall your Chrome and/or Fire Fox.   Source: www.theverge.com/2018/9/12/17850146/microsoft-windows-10-chrome-firefox-warning

Martin Brinkmann posted this on gHacks and I thought folks might be interested in doing it. Source: See external link.

Read this on a few sources and figured you'd want to know. https://www.ghacks.net/2018/08/13/google-may-track-your-location-even-if-you-disable-location-tracking/?_m=3n%2e0038%2e2193%2ehj0ao01hy5%2e2acb

I was perusing ghacks when I found this article. Since so many of us use the app, I thought you should read Martin Brinkmann's advice.   Source: https://www.ghacks.net/2018/08/01/ccleaner-5-45-dont-install/?_m=3n%2e0038%2e2188%2ehj0ao01hy5%2e2a5x

Was cruising the net and found this unhappy piece of news...Chrome's always been a RAM pig, but this? Ridiculous. Source: https://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2018/07/14/google-chrome-ram-memory-consumption-spectre-security-upgrade-windows-mac-linux-chromeos/#3cb8f1e17777

Was going through my ridiculous email and came across this...which is not so ridiculous.     The second tool is portable...a definite plus for those of us with computer illiterate family...the ones who call at 9 p.m. with "HELP! My computer doesn't work!" So enjoy...hope this helps.   Source: https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/5-free-tools-fix-problem-windows-10/

I don't know this from personal experience, but Martin Brinkmann tends to know what he's talking about, and he did the update... You should read the article linked and, if possible, defer this update. He describes a method for W10 Home, as well, using the metered charge option. A friend and contributor on WC asked me to clear up a question for him: "If possible please do a post about the difference between UHD and 4K resolutions. We are few here a little confused about this subject and no one is better than you making clear the things." I'll do my best to clear things up...but I don't generally succeed in doing that (lol).   From the linked article: "The term “4K” originally derives from the Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI), a consort...

If you're getting error 80248015 when updating Windows 7, and if you're seeing: "A check for updates returns the error message "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer".  The error 80248015 is displayed, but anything you try to resolve the issue on your end fails... Woody  on Computerworld suggests that Microsoft broke updating on Windows 7. He suggests, based on a user report o...
