By special request from a really great artist, person and friend. He’s a “Jack” of all trades, and a Master of at least one.  It’s not Skinhit, although the description fits him too. And no: I’m not going to name him/her/it. OK. No one can ever place enough emphasis on this topic. Period. Anyone who has experienced an irreparable crash and didn’t have a backup knows this: It’s a “Do this or weep” thing. Fact: Every hard...

I noticed several people had posted on problems they were having getting Dreams to play on their Desktops, so I went hunting and found a utility (I love Utilities!) that might just help in finding which CoDecs they have and which they need to run the Dreams on their systems. The fact that it does a lot more only added to it’s usefulness. VideoInspector Version 2.2.7.125 might just be the tool you need to get the reason why those gorgeous Dreams aren’t doing what they s...

Easeus Data Recovery Wizard is a program for Windows that supports multiple modes of data recovery. Usually, I would post a download link, but ghacks is requesting not to hotlink to it, so you’ll have to navigate to http://www.ghacks.net/2011/02/18/easeus-data-recovery-wizard-review-giveaway/ Where an excellent and complete review as well as the download link can be found. From ghacks: “Core Features Recover deleted or lost files Dis...

A new zero-day security flaw has been found in Windows that could allow a hacker remote access to a PC. Microsoft is currently investigating it. The programming code for the security flaw has been posted publically and is related to a Windows system file called "mrxsmb.sys". The file is related to Windows Server Message Block (SMB) protocol, used for network communications. You have to wonder why the programming code was published publicly. In short, the affected file is assoc...

WASHINGTON | Wed Feb 16, 2011 5:29pm EST (Reuters) Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, Representative Fred Upton, Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and Representative Greg Walden sponsored the resolution to repeal the rules follows a lawsuit filed in January by Verizon Communications that argues the FCC overstepped its authority.   Liquid Click Delight is simple application for your desktop that simulates touching the LCD display screen when you click on the desktop or on an application. When the program is run, it places an icon into your systray so you can close it or change its properties. These properties are very intuitive and apply immediately after change. You should configure it immediately after installation to prevent jerkiness. Any change will accomplish this. Liquid Click Delight uses very...

Lifehacker is a great website. I love it for it’s DIY’s and articles. Adam Dachis has published a tutorial series on Photoshop there which is worthy of attention. Adobe Photoshop is an incredibly powerful software program for image creation and processing. It’s my favorite hobby since learning of it here on WinCustomize. For the longest time I was afraid to touch it or use it… that is until a dear friend, mrs. starkers (my favorite pyrate girl)...

They originated in China, however it could not be determined whether they came from a governmental, corporate or criminal entity.     Gregg Keizer at Computerworld reported today that Microsoft started offering Windows XP and Vista users an optional update that disables AutoRun, yesterday. AutoRun is a feature of the operating system that the notorious Conficker and Stuxnet worms used to infect millions of PCs (but not Windows 7 OS). The move, said Microsoft, was a response to malware's continued reliance on infection tactics that abuse AutoRun and AutoPlay, a pair of technologies that automatically l...
