Does anyone have an idea of why when I download a theme that it does not work on my start menu, my Chrome browser and my Outlook email? My Eset is disabled, Javascript was turned off. Please help, you have all put so much work into these and I would love to use them. Thanks

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. First need to know more.

1) Windows version. Please use Winver.exe

2) Windowblinds version.

3) Post a screenshot on your startmenu.

Thanks

Are you talking about the Windowblind used in the screenshot or are you talking about what you see in the screenshot?

First off you need Windowblinds. You can purchase Windowblinds here: https://www.stardock.com/products/

You'll also need start10.

Once you have Winowblinds you can make your own theme or you can try and duplicate what you see in the screenshots. You must know that you will need other programs such as Rainlendar, Rainmeter, XWidget and Winstep in order to do what the screenshot shooters are doing.

Hope this helps.

Hello all, Thank you for your reply. I am running Win 10, I have attached screenshots of what the theme should look like vs. what my desktop did with it. I think I have to apply cursers and icon packs separately if I am not mistaken. But the theme should be a click and apply. I was told I had to purchase windows blinds 10 and also win customize through Stardock I think it was. I am 20 bucks into this thing and not even sure if I was told to purchase the correct things. So a few specific questions for my own knowhow and then however you all can answer my main problem. I really appreciate any help I could get. I am even willing to pay someone to do a remote session to log on while on the phone with me and just get this done asap. I have been fooling around with it for too long now. But I am determined to have these works of art on my screen.

Questions

1. Do I have the right programs

2. The way Chasbo makes it sound as if I have to find a theme and duplicate it myself??? I thought the whole point was to find a theme I liked and click it to install it. I thought you all made these themes to sell and whatnot.

3. Also, my aqua dock is giving new issues if I had it my way I would just use one dock multiple times like Nexus or rocket dock but it seems like you can only have one instance at a time of each so I have rocket dock, aqua dock, and Nexus but aqua dock seems to not want to start on computer startup. I have to go in and trigger ti to open and I can't find a box to check to open on startup like the others have,.

Any help you can provide on any or all of this or wants to earn some cash helping me get this sorted out would be great.

Thank you all for your hard work on these themes

Sorry I forgot to post pics

Oh and one last thing. When I apply themes it seems to mess with the inside of my word and excel documents making the writing and lines and all colors a shade or 3 lighter then they should be. Is that normal?

Ok, I think I know where you coming from with this bmatt. As a new member to this community I can understand how all of this can be confusing, overwhelming and frustrating.

All of the screenshots you're looking at are just that, they are only shots of how a member is currently using the Stardock products at that given time. This is the case in the Forum you are in right now which is the month of February Screenshots and also the WinCustomize Screenshot Gallery.

Listen up Bmatt: These Are Only Screenshots.

Screenshots are not downloadable themes, if you click download on the screenshot all you're going to get is a picture of that shot. You follow so far?

Now what Sir Chasbo was asking you is important. Looking at the shot of your current desktop I see you have a dock and Rainlendar icon. If you are running Window Blinds, you also need the Start10 app to change your Start Menu, Cursor FX to change your cursor and Icon Packager to change your icons. There's also a wallpaper gallery with thousands of choices for your background.

So while you take all of this in let me put it to you simply. YES you have to first understand how these programs work, what portion of your system it affects and the characteristics that you may experience. So I'm not certain why your Word and Excel documents changed, but again depending on the app that you're using, this may be how the characteristics are affected rather than it being detrimental behavior.

In the Screenshot for the month forums, we rarely put in all of the links for everything that's being used. BUT, if you go to the Screenshot Gallery at WinCustomize we typically put in details with links to all of the components being used to create the shot. At that point it's up to you to follow those links and download the specific components if your attempt is to recreate a certain screenshot. The links may be abbreviated with community vernacular like WB for Windowblinds, Wall for Wallpaper, IP for Icon Package, CFX for Cursor FX, OD for Object Dock and so on.

A screenshot is individually built from the components created by the community's artists / designers and skinners as we call them. But you have to blend all of these components together yourself. At this point you may ask WHY? And the answer is because this is Desktop PC customization. What works for me may not and probably won't necessarily work for you. You are tailoring your PC to work the way you want it!

The coolest part about this community though, is you can ask anyone "how did you do this" and they'll tell you how piece by piece. But you still have to put it all together yourself.  And to be honest that's the fun part!

I truly hope this helps ease some of your questions. Just remember when you're trying to learn something new, the silliest question is the one you don't ask.

Wow, thank you so much crplair. The time you took to write all that is unbelievably nice of you, I appreciate it so much. It does explain everything to me. I originally thought that you install once and it would do everything, curser, icons, etc. But it makes sense that you can mix and match if you want. It also makes sense that I need to download those programs to make everything work, was not aware they each took a different type of download. Now I cant wait to get down to it now that I know all this. Any ideas about my Docks? Especially Aquadock? Does Rocket Dock or Object Dock or Nexus allow you to have more than one instance running or is my aqua dock just glitchy? Maybe I should replace it with Object dock. Not sure. Again thanks to everyone and I will be back to this forum to showcase some of my work once I get good.

Oh I forgot about the Outlook and Google Chrome windows. Any reason why they will not accept the theme or do I need to download a special program for that to work also. Like I said above my Eset is off and my Java Script is deactivated which I saw as a suggestion by someone in one of the forums here. Any thoughts?

Sorry to tell you, but Outlook and the recently released Edge Chromium, and several other applications, do not skin properly because their software design does not allow for skinning them properly at this time. You should fully exclude them from being skinned in the Windowblinds Per Application area. Maybe in the future Stardock can figure out how to skin them.

But as far as Google Chrome, in the Windowblinds Settings, Advanced, Skinning Google Chrome area, just check the box allowing it to be skinned, reapply the WB skin you are using, and reboot. That should fix it. Hope this helps.

Great thank you very much, Lightstar. Very helpful. Everyone on this website is so friendly. I am happy to be here and be a newbie.

And you will need Start10 in order to skin the start menu.
