Ramblings of an old Doc
Or, you can wait a bit longer

The new Edge is here, promising more extensions and a far better search engine, based on Chromium, the same engine powering Google's Chrome browser. This makes it more compatible with websites other, less popular browsers have problems with.

This also means that after granting Edge permission, it can use Chrome extensions from the Google Playstore, which has far more than Microsoft's.

Downloading and installing are explained in the linked article, above. You don't have to uninstall the old Edge which is based on MS's engine.

Over the next weeks and months, MS will be pushing the new Edge. You can wait, and it might even be better to do so as just now it probably still has bugs, but if you like being on the bleeding edge, so to speak, go for it!

I'm going to play Capt. Obvious here for a sec and say that Edge is a "modern app"  or a "universal app" and windowblinds doesn't skin many of those, if any.

Jim this from Neil:

"The same command line that makes Chrome use a normal titlebar will also make Edge - chrome do the same."

I tried this didn't work and I can't get Chrome to skin.

All my universal app's skin fine.

All my universal app's skin fine.
I guess that does not apply to all the different setups & systems since none of my universal apps are taking any skinning whatsoever.

I don't understand.  What, exactly, is the purpose for Windowblinds and why should I purchase anymore?

Quoting ALMonty,

I just went through the apps and I found that Photos and Maps don't skin. I don't use them that's why I didn't see them.

The purpose as it has always been, to change the default Windows interface & start menu. The reason to purchase is, obviously, to get the latest working version and quite frequent updates, and to support the company that make all this possible in the first place. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

I hate you.

lol..No, really, most universal apps do not skin the titlebar for me.  Is Edge's titlebar skinning for you?

Screenshot or it didn't happen...lol.

I digress. Some do, some don't. A few I can say that don't skin correctly for me are, Edge, Calendar, Photos, Mail, Video Editor......I will check more later.

Winstep users do not need to chance the start menu.  I wasn't talking about purchasing Windowblinds.  I was talking about Windowblinds Skins.  I didn't say I didn't like it.  I have purchased WB since 2005 and every skin since its inception.  The question was why should I continue to purchase anymore skins if they are not compatible anymore with browsers.

How can anyone, except you, know the answer to that?

I suppose I could try to type slower.

Browsers change very often and seem to have a mind of their own as for skinning.  If you want a browser that skins well, I'm afraid Internet Explorer is your option.

It is NOT that the SKINS  are incompatible with the browsers.

It IS the browsers not compatible with BEING SKINNED, or with the skinning program.

That said, windowblinds skins much more than just browsers, as you know, so, you give a little, get a lot.

Your call, of course.

Saw this about the Edge and thought I post it here incase anyone of you do have these bugs.  Having all the browser windows going black, or getting a fail to load error due to having a certain security software, but said software is not disclosed by Microsoft.

About the Bug Causing Microsoft Edge Windows to Turn Black

Hopefully you all been doing fine with it though.  Personally I'm still on FireFox, since I do like that the whole browser can be skined, although I am aware that there is other browsers that can be that as well.

I use Defender. I have no need for any other bloatware.

I just want the title bar to skin and I will be a happy boy.
