Ramblings of an old Doc
Or, you can wait a bit longer

The new Edge is here, promising more extensions and a far better search engine, based on Chromium, the same engine powering Google's Chrome browser. This makes it more compatible with websites other, less popular browsers have problems with.

This also means that after granting Edge permission, it can use Chrome extensions from the Google Playstore, which has far more than Microsoft's.

Downloading and installing are explained in the linked article, above. You don't have to uninstall the old Edge which is based on MS's engine.

Over the next weeks and months, MS will be pushing the new Edge. You can wait, and it might even be better to do so as just now it probably still has bugs, but if you like being on the bleeding edge, so to speak, go for it!

Does it not work with Windowblinds?

I don't have it working with WindowBlinds, but I do have it working with Chrome skins.

Quoting ALMonty,

Save a system restore point before you install this. It wrote over MS Edge and wipe out all my favorites. My last restore point was 5 days ago and I lost everything I did.

No body or is it just me being stupid?

I doubt an accidental oversight should be defined as stupidity. As a rule, before MS updates, and installing software, one should create a restore point.

I keep identical favorites and bookmarks in my Chrome browser and Edge. When (before) I installed the new Edge, I made a restore point. After installing, I had to import my bookmarks, etc. from Chrome browser via the new Edge settings.

Don't see a reason to switch from Brave.

I used the new Edge up until last night, back on Chrome now. Edge was soooooooooooooooo slow at times!

Was it a rendering problem? It's an interesting observation, since it should be faster than Chrome. On a personal note, I haven't experienced that yet.

No, it is not a rendering problem. Chrome is fine, Edge is slow.

To be honest, I haven't used the new Edge a lot, but I also found it slow at times compared to Firefox, so I always end up swithching back to FF when my patience run out.  I don't think it's a rendering problem either.

Edge is working fine on my system, no problem with lag time at all, my two cents worth.

Ditto.

Edge is passable but I still prefer Firefox and will continue to use it as my No 1 browser.

Can anyone tell me how to skin the title bar in Edge? Neil told me it's the same as process as Chrome, I can't get that to skin either. It still has the same buttons as Win 10.

on Feb 28, 2020

Or how to skin Brave, also.

Skinning how?  Edge accepts skins from the Chrome web store just fine.

Skinning the titlebar with WindowBlinds. Not Chrome skins.
