Ramblings of an old Doc

That’s more than the world’s GDP.

And you thought yours was bad. This lady only wanted to close out her account. I figure if it were true, she’d be the reason for the next world recession.

Neowin published the article…

A printing error indeed. That works out to $54.3 trillion dollars (U.S.).

I wonder what her husband said…

Oh, it's OK.

She doesn't have to pay it.

....which is ever so nice of them.  I expect she might have had to work late a few nights a week to cover it.....

Reminds me of the time on Red Dwarf where he found out he had left a light on in the bathroom for 3 million years...  and the Electricity Board was coming to collect.

GOOD GWAVY TWAIN! Is she on a time payment plan? Might take a few million years to pay it off.

With that much phone usage, he probably couldn't get a word in edgewise.

He'd only have to wait 'til she was too weak from malnourishment....

.... well, she's not going to get any eating done with all that yakking going on, is she!

That bill alone will solve Euro zone problems

Sounds like my gas and electric bills...

Fuzzy Logic
Sounds like my gas and electric bills...

Don't speak to me about gas and electric bills.  We are using less and less each quarter, yet the bills keep going up and up.  And what really shits me is that the CEO of my electricity provider just took a 1.5 million dollar pay increase, taking his annual salary, with share options and bonuses to $8.7 million... and he is only one of dozens at the company who took a huge pay increase this year.  This is not the reason we are being told electricity prices are rising, however.

The reason we are being told electricity prices are going up is to put up new infrastructure to cope with increasing demand, yet all I'm seeing going up lately is bills and executive pay levels, and at alarming rates at that.  And what's this bullshit about increasing demand?  Everybody I know is using much less electricity than in the previous quarters, and in some cases by rather substantial amounts, so WhereTF is this increasing demand coming from, as usage shrinks and bills keep rising considerably?

Ours are going up again. After 18%+ rises earlier in the year, its now another 8%.

Why doesn't the price come down when the wholesale price drops?

What happens to the billions of profit they make?

42.

Into their pockets and stockholders pockets... unless it's "nationalized". Then it's into the government's pocket (read politician's and their retirement funds).
