Ramblings of an old Doc
UI to make "hover" and "click" the same
Published on February 5, 2023 By DrJBHL In Personal Computing

Taras Buria brings soon to come changes to Edge to us in the article linked above at Neowin. I recommend reading the original article there.

Buria reports and links other articles regarding improvements namely some positive changes such as an improved password monitor, a new productivity feature (two tabs in one window), and reimagining (Project Phoenix) - Mica treatment and rounded corners, as well as the subject of this: "Discover":

The new button will pop the right part of the browser open on hover and on click.

In true MS deceptive fashion, it will occupy and take advantage of the former place of the Settings button...and just to annoy you more, it'll also be bright purple. Nice touch, that. By odd coincidence, it'll be the only button you cannot hide or reposition.

One encouraging point: MS's forums are getting plenty of negative feedback on the ad button. Judging by the speed they've changed the useless W11 Start Menu, we should see the ad button disappear about the same time hell freezes over.

Have a great Sunday!

Already reading some peeps are on it with Registry Fixes in the pipeline. MS are sneaky, always have been, but peeps will have it back to how they like it in no time, always have, and always will.

I Could Doc, but as they are the type of peeps who have one wooden leg and a parrot on there shoulder, i thought that was not allowed. They create Moded Editions of Windows. A Lot of the fixes start this way before savvy peep's extract the fixes as either a Registry Hack, or a Reg Path, then the rest of The Net starts seeing just the Reg fix in articles on the likes of Reddit and Github.

A Rule Check please.

Am i right in thinking we can talk about W***z, but can not post links etc.. or is the whole subject not allowed in its entirety.

Best not to discuss warez, pirated software, most certainly not links, names of sites and the like. Why skate on thin ice?

I'd also be very circumspect about discussing hacks of system files and the like as that might well cause unstable systems and damage/data loss, etc. to other members. Remember, those sites and those hacked programs can easily contain malware/ransomware, etc.

The TOS and especially 3 go into more than enough detail for conduct guidelines. Realize that should damage be caused to another as a result of a post/reply/upload, you assume responsibility for that damage, not Stardock.

Best not to quote those folks you mentioned in your reply to my question, nor bring their "solutions" to whatever here. If you wish to deploy those solutions on your system, that's your business.

Hence why i posted no link. Their Solutions do make it to mainstream Web sooner or later, that has always been the case and can not see it changing. Later when it does hit mainstream web and the article writers pick up on it , most peeps have no idea how it was developed and just see it as another fix putting something right MS gets wrong. Then regular peeps will see it listed as a fix, backed up by trusted article writers similar to the ones you love to copy and paste into new Topics Doc.

I do not recommend, any of our members venture into Warez, indeed it can be a place of all sorts of nasties and is not for the newbie oh no. Many things originate in that universe that do go on to be called Fixes in the None Warez World. This is why i post no links to warez content, and offer no solutions still being developed in that world, but things do tend to migrate over  eventually, once they have been checked as Security Clean, re packed and posted on mainstream sites like Reddit and Github to name just a few, Several Tools and Fixes pop up even here, but as they have become mainstream, no one seems to care how they originated as long as they are clean, do no harm, but do a job users want it to do.

The big difference being what I "copy and paste", I put quotation marks around and credit.

Good for you Doc, Whatever bangs your gong.

One of Doc's roles with Stardock/Wincustomise.com is to keep an eye out for relevant [to the skinning world] subject matter, and post articles about what's found, with links to 'whatever' for others to delve into deeper if they wish.

It's a system that's working well....

With regards to anything and everything 'dangerous' to the general user, such as links to dodgy sites [warez] or scripts/registry hacks ...there's no harm in their discussion ...only in their facilitation of use....

Hence why i posted no links. When it goes mainstream as a Fix for Edge, i am sure many peeps will make use of it, just like many other fixes already that originated in those kind of places.
