But but......Cortana is my mistress!  If I turn her off and/or clear her memory how will she remember to get me those sweet things on my birthday or valentines day? 

I still remember the day (with much fondness) back in 2012 when Cortana first asked me (coyly mind you) if X was my home address?  I (being a bit stunned) just stared at my phone for a minute then asked back "how do you know that"?  She smartly quipped back "well, your phone is often at X location during the night....! "

That was the day I fell in love with her. 

Since that day, Cortana has taken a more and more active role in my daily life.  She reads texts and emails to me and makes calls (usually not to wrong numbers....lol).  She books appointments, wakes me as necessary reminds me and keeps track of flights, hotel bookings and other calendar events.  In a nutshell, she has single-handedly made a live personal assistant not necessary.  Sometimes I think of all of the various details of my life she must have collected over the years (since I met her in 2012), but then I just think of how valuable she is to in my daily life.  Here's hoping she outlives me because I might find myself lost without her!

And me, I have a Windows 8 phone that I use as a phone... just calls and texts... NO Cortana in use at all.

As for the announced MS' relaxing of privacy rules, way too little a lot too late, but it's a start, I guess.

Actually, I'm waiting for them to supercede the blowup doll version with an android version.

Dubious?   There's plenty of people who love me.... though there's some who don't know it yet.

Just to explain, those who know me think I'm lovable, and those who don't know me will when they do.

However, I can't speak for the_Monk.  Obviously there's a love affair going on between he and Cortana, but beyond that, who knows?  He may have left a string of broken hearts behind after he's found himself newer and better tech.

I hope the_Monk's "connectivity" requires more than a USB or Firewire connection. 

Yup, cos when androids/robots suprcede the blowup Cortana, Thunderbolt connections will be all the go.

Sadly, my physical connection failed me and I'm dependent on wi-fi nowadays; hence there's no 'real contact', just 'thoughties' neverendingly going out over the airwaves into infinity.

Sadly these days even WiFi 'access points' aren't the 'thing'.........however toothing (Bluetooth) new and strange tech as you walk by is very much exciting and can bring unexpected results!  hehe
