Ramblings of an old Doc

It’s only for Chrome. It’s absolutely lovely… You can view the video here: http://livestartpage.com/

So…what is it? It’s basically a dream in a browser. Along with it, there’s weather (if you let it know where you are), Speed dial, Settings and a huge assortment of themes.

When do you see it? Whenever you want…all you have to do is open a new tab, and take a break from what you were doing.

Here’s mine. You can’t really see what it’s doing, but there’s a breeze going from right to left, so, the fog/clouds move, and so does the greenery behind the boulders.

There are maybe a thousand themes to choose from…nature, cities, Even one of coffee being poured into a cup…

You can see them here:

chrome-extension://ocggccaacacpienfcgmgcihoombokbbj/pages/options/options.html

Credit for this find goes to Po’. He took the time to post it on face book…thanks, Po’.

*edit: You might have to install the extension before you can see the available themes/dreams...no biggy, because you can always remove the extension from within Chrome using settings (in the cheese grater/hamburger button at the right end of the upper bar).

Thanks, Doc. I'll check it out. I see it pop up here and there with other search engines as an option to choose from, just didn't know if it was better or what. I've always been happy with Google. I can't get used to Bing and I refuse to use Yahoo based on past experience as unfair as that may sound. I'll check it out.

Quoting PoSmedley,

DOC...sorry, I got nosy and took a close look at your screen shot. I have 2 questions.

Are you running Windows 10?
And if so, how the hell did you get Live Writer to work on it?

Nosy bastage. Remind me to shop you, List dweller.

I am running W10. I'm using Windows LiveWriter 2012...same as I was using before I "upgraded" from W7.

The system requirements can be viewed here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-essentials-2012-system-requirements

It can be downloaded here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8621

The one you have looks just like mine...

Quoting Borg999,

Also, it changes your default search engine to something I'v never heard of...

http://parallaxsearch.com/

That's on the extension. My default search engine is DuckDuckGo, and I determined that in Chrome's Settings page. I don't use the one offered by the extension.

It did not change my default search engine, however. After the installation, my search engine remained unchanged. In the config (gear at bottom left) you uncheck the "Search" and that disappears. See below.

Like this:

Reduced 42%
Original 1006 x 1024

That removes the search bar but it would be nice to be able to change it to your default search of choice so there was no need to go back to home page.

This is a nice extension.

ah, thanks. I only use google and didn't like perchance to accidentally use that one.
Well...if you want to be tracked...and you wish to see paid for placement before relevance and ads...no argument from me.

I block cookies use adblock, ghostery and scriptblock so there's not much chance of that, I hope.

my computer changed the time for DST however live page didn't? (edit; it has changed this morning)

Similar minds think alike eh PO, and it never hurts to play safe.

Had to disable live page in W10. Page would occasionally show up as a white background and refreshing the page didn't work. So far still working in 8.1
