Ramblings of an old Doc

It’s only for Chrome. It’s absolutely lovely… You can view the video here: http://livestartpage.com/

So…what is it? It’s basically a dream in a browser. Along with it, there’s weather (if you let it know where you are), Speed dial, Settings and a huge assortment of themes.

When do you see it? Whenever you want…all you have to do is open a new tab, and take a break from what you were doing.

Here’s mine. You can’t really see what it’s doing, but there’s a breeze going from right to left, so, the fog/clouds move, and so does the greenery behind the boulders.

There are maybe a thousand themes to choose from…nature, cities, Even one of coffee being poured into a cup…

You can see them here:

chrome-extension://ocggccaacacpienfcgmgcihoombokbbj/pages/options/options.html

Credit for this find goes to Po’. He took the time to post it on face book…thanks, Po’.

*edit: You might have to install the extension before you can see the available themes/dreams...no biggy, because you can always remove the extension from within Chrome using settings (in the cheese grater/hamburger button at the right end of the upper bar).

might check that bottom link, I got an error?

Really nice however they require that you like of twitter or FB to access all of the themes. I don't do either so.... [e digicons]:'([/e]

gmc2...you might have to install the extension first...of course, if you don't like it, you can always remove the extension.

Just got it, using the fantasy ocean theme. Live backgrounds will slow this machine down because the innards are mostly generic. Gonna check out the rest now. He he

The trick is...you have to 'share it' on Facebook or Twitter to unlock all 1000+ themes. Cheeky lil' bastards.

This is new and it looks like they will be adding more 'formats' from static jpg's to animated jpg's, and 'live wallpapers'.

The one with the owl is creepy.

And for the guys...well....can you ever have enough scantily clad women whose hair softly rustles in the breeze? (MY wife says that you actually can have enough..or was it that she'd had enough...anyway..the animals are cool to look at as well.)

Saw that and decided that no......1000+ themes is a bit much when only one or two will do. Besides...I gave up FB a long time ago and Twitter...no thanks.

Saw that and decided that no

I don't think you can access any of the scantily clad Victoria Secrets models without unlocking it.

But according to my wife, there is nothing wrong with baby owls and puppy dogs and sea scapes. Nothing at all. Infact, she insists that that is all I really need to be happy in this life....or did she say her life...I get so confused in all the screaming.

DOC...sorry, I got nosy and took a close look at your screen shot. I have 2 questions.

  1. Are you running Windows 10?
  2. And if so, how the hell did you get Live Writer to work on it?

I was unable to but found a version of it that is being made by it's original creators that does run and it's open source. It's called 'OpenLive Writer"

Live Writer,, as far as I am concerned, is hands down the best blogging tool available and I was so glad to see that the guys behind it moved on with it when Microsoft stopped making it available.

Also, it changes your default search engine to something I'v never heard of...

Nosy bastage. Remind me to shop you, List dweller.

I am running W10. I'm using Windows LiveWriter 2012...same as I was using before I "upgraded" from W7.

The system requirements can be viewed here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-essentials-2012-system-requirements

It can be downloaded here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8621

The one you have looks just like mine...

That's on the extension. My default search engine is DuckDuckGo, and I determined that in Chrome's Settings page. I don't use the one offered by the extension.

It did not change my default search engine, however. After the installation, my search engine remained unchanged. In the config (gear at bottom left) you uncheck the "Search" and that disappears. See below.

Why do those things make it better? I remember you mentioning this before somewhere, but I lost the place. I use Google. Nothing else unless it's pertaining to something like IMDB.

Well...if you want to be tracked...and you wish to see paid for placement before relevance and ads...no argument from me.
