It’s free (at least for now), and it’s easy. It has a cool interface (doesn’t look like Windows 3.1). Your receivers don’t even have to have it installed. Just email the file, or the download url.
Even more interesting: No limit to file size, and no limit to file type… mp3, mp4, doc, psd, psb…you name it…no problemo.
You can also preview it without committing to downloading it…so, you can see whether it’s worth the download or not. It’s so polite it even has an auto-resume…it your receiver/s have a problem with their connection, they can resume downloading when all’s copacetic.
BUT: There are no advanced options…so, you can’t specify file path. Why not? I think that will be coming in future “pay for” editions.
The ownership of the company is French.
The hint about the future of this app is here: https://infinit.io/pricing for those who can read between the columns, but they do say that the p2p part will remain free:
“Infinit has the unique advantage of being built on a point-to-point technology, which connects two computers without using an intermediary such as a cloud. As a result, the vast majority of files sent on Infinit are not stored on a server (the main cost to file transfer and file sharing companies). Because we benefit from a lower cost structure than almost all of our competitors, we pass the savings onto our community.
We can guarantee that the peer-to-peer part of Infinit will remain free and unlimited.” - Infinit
So…for as long as it’s for free, and what will most likely change those options on the left column, you can download it for Windows, Mac and Linux as well as the mobile app for iPhone/iPad and Android here: https://infinit.io/
