Ramblings of an old Doc

Microsoft is simply incapable of “getting it right”.

“Terry Myerson, Microsoft's Windows honcho, says the plebs have to wait in line, behind 5 million "insiders." And volume-license availability won't be until next month, either.” – Richi Jennings

So now this, on top of just who is entitled to a free upgrade to this gem, W10.

“Starting on July 29, MS will start rolling out Windows 10 to our Windows Insiders. From there, we will start notifying reserved systems in waves, slowly scaling up after July 29th. Each day of the roll-out, we will listen, learn and update the experience for all Windows 10 users.

Soon, we will give a build of Windows 10 to our OEM partners so they can start imaging new devices with Windows 10. The new devices our partners are working on are very exciting, I can’t wait to hear your feedback as you get a chance to use them.

Soon after, we will distribute a build of Windows 10 to retailers all over the world, so they can assist their customers with upgrades of newly purchased devices that were originally imaged with Windows 8.1.” – Terry Myerson (MS, Exec VP OSs)

So, this is like Seinfeld when he reserved a rental car, only to discover that car wasn’t available…

“See, you know how to take the reservation, you just don’t know how to hold the reservation. And that’s really the most important part of the reservation, the holding.” – J. Seinfeld

Microsoft has a problem: They can’t write in clear, simple declarative sentences and they don’t do what they say they’re going to do, nor when they say they’re going to do it:

“On July 29, you can get Windows 10 for PCs and tablets by taking advantage of the free upgrade offer.”

This is dishonesty: “On July 29” does not mean “On or soon after July 29”. Never did, never will.

How about “We have a schedule delay” – that wouldn’t be anything new to MS customers. Sorry, folks: I’m just tired of the clowns who can’t get a simple “Who’s entitled to say what and when” straight.

They may be tech geniuses, but they certainly create ugly GUIs and even worse icons and they flunked High School English (and Honesty 101).

I only use my machine for graphics work. No games at all. Even the ones preinstalled by MS. Those I uninstall. As for facebook...nope.

As for the Games part there are no games released supporting DX12 yet.
One of the upcomming would be fable.

So there is no real need from a Gamer perspective to immediately jump to windows10.
I would even say that waiting for response of the first wave may save one restoring a system.
Unless of course you already enjoy windows10.

Will wait a week and look at forums, before i make the transition.
