Ramblings of an old Doc

Clearly, the Chinese market is one to penetrate…and how better to do it than via the Xiaomi 4 – an Android smart phone?

MS revealed the launch of W10 this summer (no specific date, just yet), but also a deal with Xiaomi whereby owners of the Xiaomi 4 will be able to install and test the W10 Technical Preview and give feedback to MS. Very, very smart.

So how did they do that? Well, basically the same way Cyanogen Mod does…via a customized ROM images which overwrite the device’s ROM. So…install it (Flash it) and you have a W10 phone with all the services.

"This partnership will allow Xiaomi and Microsoft to get direct user feedback and continue to improve the experience for China. Microsoft is thrilled to see Xiaomi embracing Windows 10," Microsoft said in a statement to TechCrunch….Microsoft reportedly does have plans to make its custom Windows 10 ROMs available to more devices in time, according to TechCrunch.” – c|net
