Ramblings of an old Doc

This was a planned post which sydneysiders gave the spolier for…no matter.

Cauldyth and everyone interested in learning Photoshop the way you should, from the basics, a free course is being given on my fave free learning channel, creativeLive by an excellent photographer, Ben Willmore.

“Ben Willmore who is a member of the Photoshop Hall of Fame who has taught over 100,000 Photoshop users on five continents.

His bestselling books, DVDs, and hit seminars have established Ben as one of America’s favorite Photoshop instructors, and he is often the top-selling speaker at design and photography conferences throughout the world. He writes for numerous digital imaging publications, including Photoshop User magazine, and his award-winning books have helped helped hundreds of thousands of design and photography professionals make the transition from blindly following step-by-step techniques to “Ah-ha! I finally GET Photoshop!.

Ben will show you how to use Photoshop’s most important features by working through common, real-world projects and explaining the process. You’ll get to know the Photoshop interface and learn about the features you’ll use the most. Ben will teach you how to:

  • Enhance hair, eyes, and lips in portraits
  • Merge multiple images into a panorama
  • Fix bright reflections on glasses and closed eyes in a group shot
  • Correct photos that are under or overexposed
  • Create a collage of multiple images

You’ll learn how layers, selections, masks, and filters help you make a great image and find out why resolution, file formats, and color profiles matter. Ben will break down commonly-heard technical jargon so you know what others are saying and you’ll learn keyboard commands that will make your work easier.

By the end this class you’ll be confident and comfortable working in Photoshop and know how to troubleshoot when problems arise.” – creativeLive

You’ll have to create a new account which is free. The classes will run on Jan. 19-21, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (Pacific Standard Time) there are breaks and a lunch period.

A rerun (also free) is generally given right after the original is shown and you can buy anytime access to the course for $79. Usually there are little quote contests with prizes during the original airing.
