This sounds very interesting: The purpose of this one is to unify OSs across devices. This comes from Google I/O.

There will be changes to the UI (complete redesign…icons, colors, themes, sounds and fonts), “Notifications and the Lock Screen”- (notifications will appear on ‘cards’) and use a Motorola type HUD for urgent notifications. “Safe Place” – locations where your PIN won’t be necessary (like at home), but leave there, and your PIN becomes necessary. “Project Volta” – to keep battery use at a minimum…similar to the system on HTC devices (Battery Saver mode and minimal power mode until your device is charged). “Profiles” – such as ‘business’ and ‘personal’ with two separate secure areas for separate and different profile data.

Google appears to be merging the Chrome and Android OSs. Android apps will be able to run natively, and if you have your phone near your Chromebook, it will be able to unlock the Chromebook. Even better: The multitasking tool on Android will have recent tabs from the Chromebook (sync).

All told, these are very big changes coming to Chrome.

Is it really too much to ask for the ability to customize the appearance of the UI? I really don’t think so…
