Ramblings of an old Doc

At Newegg…the deal is for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro Lifetime on 1 PC and includes free, AVG Internet Security software…until 6/24 at 11:59 p.m.

Not a bad deal considering it’s for $17.99, and usually Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro Lifetime 1 license costs $29.99. One thing to know: It’s for the lifetime of that PC, not your lifetime – which I sincerely hope is much longer than that!

AVG Internet Security costs $54.99. Not sure if the edition with the deal has all those features…

Honestly, I’m confused about the ‘Paid’ variants Malware Anti-Malwarebytes offers. There are the ‘Pro’ and the ‘Premium’.

The ‘Pro’ version isn’t listed on their site, so a comparison of features isn’t there either. Also, there’s no ‘Lifetime’ feature listed, either. The features of the ‘Premium’ are listed, however. Its price is $24.99 for 3 PCs for 1 year.

My thought? You generally get what you pay for. The Pro sounds like more features than the free version, but fewer than the ‘Premium’. There’s just no way to learn just what on their site, and that bothers me a good deal. I’m not saying that there’s anything ‘fishy’, just that there should be more information.

All I could find was this:

"Replacing Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium promises superior performance in detecting e-threats in real time mode, as well as removing viruses, rootkits, trojans, and other infections, all wrapped in a small package and highly intuitive interface. Some of its notable features include an anti-rootkit component and Chameleon, a module that keeps the application running even when it's under siege."- Softpedia

They were disappointed (when the review was written).

Caveat emptor.

Pro version was rebranded as Premium a couple of months ago - name changed with one of the updates.

A bit misleading...no.

I'm very dissatisfied with the pro version at the moment. It's stopped loading and won't re-install. Bleh...

if i remember correctly, pro applied to pre 2.0 versions... when you paid back then you get a life time license (your life, not the machine.. you can move it to a new machine with some fiddling  https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/151201-moving-malware-pro-to-new-computer/#entry844870 )

when they did 2.0, they don't do new life time license any more and do subscription instead.

even if it's legit, i suspect this is old surplus stock in someone's back room... (which is a bit of a loophole in lifetime v 1yr sub thing)
