Many were thrilled about Oculus Rift and gaming, others doubted the wisdom of Facebook’s purchase of the 3D gaming module currently being developed.
Jump to Roberta Firstenberg’s chemotherapy resistant terminal malignancy, and that quality of mercy, and her granddaughter Priscilla who is a game artist artist.
The dev and support team for Oculus Rift received a moving note from Priscilla about her grandmother who was essentially immobilized, and decided to do the right thing.
The good people on that team put together the Tuscany Villa demo
“complete with trees, stairs, and butterflies. She was able to see her younger self and a beloved pet (yes, the team even went to Google Street View and found a shot of her and the pet). After seeing this demo, Roberta asked for a waterfalls, forests and fairies.”
She took a turn for the worse, and passed away.

My “Mensch of the Year” nomination goes to Priscilla and the Oculus Rift Team.
“The quality of mercy is not strain'd, It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven Upon the place beneath: it is twice blest; It blesseth him that gives and him that takes”- Wm. Shakespeare The Merchant of Venice act 4, Scene 1
The rest of the quote is what it is and not tolerable to me, nor compatible with WC.
A video of Mrs. Firstenberg using the unit can be seen at the source link. Her granddaughter created the video.
