Ramblings of an old Doc

Recently (11/13), AOL announced the closure of the Winamp website and the Shoutcast Internet Radio directory as of 12/20/13.

Granted…there are better ones out there but, gee…

Now it seems there’s hope. Techcrunch reported yesterday that AOL is finalizing the sale of Winamp…but they’re not saying to whom. There are rumors that it’s Microsoft, though.

At any rate, Techcrunch says it’s basically so close that it’s a done deal.

Sooo…I for one am among those who (nostalgically) hope MS (or whoever) does buy Winamp!

would be great if it changes hands.
I have used Winamp for years and always though of it as a good program.

Let's hope somebody buys it, gives it a little love, keeps it alive, and doesn't turn it into "something else".  I'm guessing the primary interest would be Shoutcast, so maybe the purchaser wouldn't get too carried away whacking at WinAmp.

Lets hope that whoever does buy it gives it a whole lot of TLC. Hear that Microstuff!
