Ramblings of an old Doc

Simply a great tool. I’ve tried it on my iPad and it works faultlessly.

It supports backup and recovery of all your data files of the Camera Roll, Contacts, Messages, Call history, Notes, Bookmarks, Calendar, Reminders, Photo types. You can read more here: http://www.iphonesrecovery.com/irecoverywizard/

It can recover from the device, or from a previous iTunes backup. Since you can’t preview that backup file (even if you could find it), you really do need a backup tool that will seek it out and do it for you, as well as seeing it on your computer.

The devices supported are: iPhone3GS/4/4S/5, iPad, iPod touch: iOS 4, iOS 5, iOS 6, iOS 7.

The supported operating systems are: Windows XP x86, Windows Vista x86/x64, Windows Server 2008 x86/x64, Windows 7 x86/x64, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Home Server 2011, Windows 8 x86/x64 (except ARM processors).

It has a simple, clear interface. It has a fully illustrated and easy to understand online user guide and “how to” here.

It also has a “free” version as well as a “Pro” one and some really good features can be seen here or in the screenshot below:

What’s missing from the user guide (in my opinion) are instructions for migration from earlier to later iOS versions and devices in their user guide, if they differ from the ones already there. It might be that no such instructions are necessary, and all you have to do is hook up the the new device and restore to it, but it would be nice to know that. The recovery files are stored as .htm and .txt files as you can see in the first screen shot.

I especially like the support from iTunes backup and the wide file type and device support.

It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if EaseUS has a program for the backup and recovery of Android devices in the works, so we’ll be on the lookout for it when it appears.

My recommendation? As with all of EaseUS’s programs (especially the free ones): Get it, and start backing your stuff up, people!

As always:

Do your own research about any software. I’m not a professional software reviewer. I’m a volunteer. I have no financial interests in nor gratuities/remuneration from the companies which make the software I review here.

Make a restore point before installing any software. Make sure you download from the developer’s site. If redirected to another site, check out its url. If downloading from another site, Do the “Advanced” or “Custom” installation to make sure you don’t get any “extras” like toolbars, changes of home page or preferred search engines.
