Ramblings of an old Doc

Turned on the computer this morning only to find 13 updates for my W7x64 system from MS.

What’s in the patches? Three rated “Critical” one for vulnerabilities in IE9 and all to prevent remote code execution.

Here’s what’s in it…

So… happy patch Tuesday 2.0.

Is this some sort of advanced notification you get Doc, that you look up manually?  I do not not have any updates showing in Windows Update at all.

Nevermind... it appears those updates installed by themselves with no intervention from me at all, which is highly unusual as I don't have it set to do that. Checks his settings again...

Nope... no 'Ballmer' in my family tree. You can get notification (not email) at this url -  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/dd252948.aspx

Honestly? I believe it just has to do with other apps you might or might not have from MS... or not. Maybe you got other updates installed at other times, or perhaps will get the other ones at other times... perhaps you declined some earlier?

Four of the updates are for Office 2010 so if you don't have it then the standard would be seven!

Must be the reason... good for you, Frankie.

12 for me...5 are for Office.

I tend to wait a few days before updating so the bugs have time to show up. With MS's track record for buggy updates, I like to hold off. Besides,  it also gives me time to backup my systems.

8 for me with 3 optional...I didn't do optional.
