Ramblings of an old Doc

For c|net’s “Best of the Show”? Probably the best TV ever – LG 55EM9600 OLED TV:

What’s so great? It’s a 55” OLED, excellent viewing angles, absolute black levels, ultra fast and so thin it’s crazy! The best news? Same price as the LCD of the same size.

“People’s Choice”: Razer Project Fiona – the gaming tablet with the handles:

There are a whole slew of
Best of…” categories… smartphones (ID’s (desired) Nokia Lumia 900 took that, Car Tech- QNX CAR 2 mobile apps platform, Cameras: Fujifilm X-Pro1…. on and on.

“Best PC”? HP Envy 14 Spectre. Totally glass (Gorilla Glass II) covered (supposedly more scratch resistant)… how about shattering??? Heavier than most ultrabooks, lighter than Mac-Book Pro… 128 GB SSD with an option to add a second SSD 14” LED. $1,400 “entry level” gets an i-5-2467 (not Ivy Bridge) 4 GB RAM. Pricey, imo.

Forget the LG OLED TV! Where are the freakin' LG IPS monitors they are supposed to be showing off? I've waited all week just for them and still haven't seen or heard anything about them. Ah nuts to it! I'll probably just buy the Asus PA246Q anyway.

Starcandy: Are you talking about the passive 3D IPS monitors?  I too though they were being announced, but nothing seems to have been said.

I do love that OLED TV though.  By mid 2014 they might be a reasonable price too.

That TV looks just a "bit" thinner than my 32" CRT widescreen. ( and no doubt, lighter.)

Yup, that's them. Apparently they were announced but weren't important enough for many of the major tech sites to give a damn about. I did find this though. LINKAGE

The info is scant to say the least. I guess more will be known when they're released next month. I'm still thinking I'll go with the Asus. It seems to be the cheapest professional quality IPS monitor I can find beyond the Dells, and I'm put off them by the many reports of aggressive anti-glare coating. Plus the Asus is 1920x1200 . I would have loved to step up to a 27" monitor, but they're limited when it comes to IPS, plus I'd have to go crossfire to be able to play games at 2560x1400.

My hands hurt just looking at Razer's Fiona.  It looks very uncomfortable.

OMG.

I can just see some bonehead trying to mount that over or AS his gorram steering wheel in his pimped out Lexus. It's scary.
