Ramblings of an old Doc

For the Ps fans… have you ever seen that one super brush which would be perfect for your project… but it’s “for cs3 and later”, while you’re using Ps 7?

Have you wanted a better display of your treasured brushes, or are you considering which you really need and use to clean out junk that’s slowing Ps down?

Well, I found this gem this morning: abrMate. It’s free and as far as I can see, there’s no other utility around which does what it does:

  • Open and preview Adobe Photoshop .abr brush files
  • Find all .abr brush files under specified directories
  • Preview each brush in .abr files as thumbnail or up to full resolution
  • Convert newer CS1, CS2, CS3, CS4 or CS5 brushes to Adobe Photoshop 7.x compatible versions - Now You Can Open Any Brush from Any Version of Photoshop!
  • Export selected brush or all open brushes to .png image for use in other applications
  • Export all open brushes to a thumbnail preview .png

System Requirements:

  • Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit)
  • .Net Framework 4.0

The site even has tutorials. Oh yes… the site is a really good source for textures and brushes, as well.
