Ramblings of an old Doc

So, you want to make a back up copy of all your “Rescue Tools”, great music, art, etc. so you can utilize it for another purpose. Say you want to make an image of your mp3 music player’s content and then mount each different style of music differently.

But, you really don’t want to “Copy to” or “drag 'and drop”.  Say you really want an image (a clone) of the original.

The free USB (and basiically any device connected as a USB device to your ‘puter) has two modes: “Device Mode” which images/clones the whole device/drive and the “Volume Mode” which processes and copies the first volume on a USB flash drive.

Easy to backup your contacts from your phone, etc. this way.

To create a backup you click “Backup” and the images are saved in the .img file format. To restore (or transfer to another device) you click on “Restore”.

Features

  • create image files of USB flash drives
  • restore images of USB flash drives
  • compressed image file format
  • show USB device information
  • manage favorite USB images
  • command line utility

Supported devices

USB Image Tool works with any device, that implements the USB Mass Storage protocol. This includes flash drives, card readers and a lot of other devices, like digicams, cell phones and mobile music players.
