Ramblings of an old Doc

Couple of reasons for posting this:

The first? Well, I know you can take photos with an iPhone (and others), and an iPad 2 (and beyond), as well as other tablets,

I just didn’t know it’s coming into its own as a special form of photography.

The second? There’s going to be a creativeLive webcast with Jack Hollingsworth for a fun look at the ever-expanding world of iPhone Photography (or iPhoneography). If you love shooting, processing and sharing images with your iPhone (or other devices – the principles have got to be similar), this is a 2-day event you don't want to miss.

The third… well, I love looking at gear, and this webcast is going to have it:

“We'll demo tons of gear to accessorize your iPhone camera for shooting stills and video. Jack will dig into the best apps available for working photographers, and show why he believes the iPhone will forever change the landscape and culture of photography.

Bring your iPhone and join Jack in person at creativeLIVE! We're looking for six creativeLIVE fans to kick off the new year in the creativeLIVE studio with Jack Hollingsworth. Here's how to join in:

1. Record a video (60'ish seconds) saying why you want to join Jack in Seattle.
2. Post that video to your Blog, YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, Etc.
3. Tweet the video's URL to @creativeLIVE and include #jackLIVE

Video Submission Deadline: Monday, December 19, 2012.” – creativeLive

Sounds interesting… the principles of photography, etc. should be interesting to see, as well as the image processing (I’m thinking potential ‘dreams’ here).

Also, I saw these in an article today… This just has to be the smartest and simplest cellphone add-on lens yet!

It’s called the Macro Cell Lens Band, and it’s not much more than a macro lens embedded in a rubber band. It costs $15 from Photojojo (source of photos below), and has its own holder, size of a credit card. Works with any phone.

This stuff makes me happy! Remember, Photoshop is coming out with Touch apps for pads and phones…. so this really could mean a popularization and whole new generation of photographers. Gotta be easier than lugging a huge gear bag around.

Hope you enjoy the creativeLive webcast.
