Ramblings of an old Doc

Martin Brinkman over at gHacks.net has published a very good article about a valuable little app called “Re-Enable”.

Often, folks don’t know their computers have been infected until something fails to work correctly or fails to open due to the virus’s “self protection” programming.

Then the folks go to the various sites we’ve all talked about and succeed in removing the virus/Trojan, but the damage the “self protection” did remains:

MsConfig, Regedit, the Control Panel, Windows Task Manager or System Restore fail to open. You might think, “Crap, I have to format and restore everything!”.

Well, you might not:

“Re-Enable offers to activate Windows features like Regedit, Windows Task Manager,

System Restore, MsConfig or the Control Panel after a virus attack.” – M. Brinkmann, gHacks

Why not head on over to gHacks and add this valuable tool to your “Repair Kit”?

Another great tool which helps you recover from less than fatal, irreparable damage is “Virus Effect Remover”, which Mr. Brinkmann wrote about here.

This program centralizes the services and tools to repair damage. Take a look at it also, while you’re there.

You find some great stuff, Doc. thanks for passing this along.

activate Windows features like Regedit, Windows Task Manager,

System Restore, MsConfig or the Control Panel after a virus attack

Another tool that can repair these is found in Iobit Toolbox, (part of Advanced System Care 4) along with some other great tools for fixing your Windows install.   The Toolbox is available in a portable version as well .I've used Iobit software for quite some time on XP and Win7-32/64  and it has performed better than expected for freeware.
