Ramblings of an old Doc

As the title suggests, I’m bringing another file utility for your (free) armamentarium.

Sometimes you have to send large files, or part of a file and don’t wish to use dropbox or another FTP, or wish to manipulate portions of a file, edit them separately and store only parts of them on different devices. This is a great utility for that. It can also merge files or parts of them.

“Description:
WinMend File Splitter is a free file splitter and merger. It can split a file into specified number of blocks or at specified unit size, so they can be easily attached to an email, or stored in a removable device such as USB drive, floppy disk, MP3, MP4, and mobile phone. It can also be used to merge files. It can merge split files in the same directory back into a new file identical to the original one. With advanced algorithms and clean and simple interface, WinMend File Splitter can help you get done tasks quickly and accurately while ensuring easy and convenient operation. It’s a convenient tool that you will never want to miss. Supports Language: English, Hungarian, Vietnamese.

Features:

1. High-Speed Splitting and Merging
With advanced algorithms, it splits and merges files faster.

2. Safety Ensured
The splitting and merging processes are safe and reliable. Your files will never be damaged.” – WinMend

The WinMend site also has other freeware such as a registry defragger (without optimization) – worth taking a look.

Cool!  I use to have one (in the old DOS days) that would split a large file up, but lost it long ago.  This one will be useful!

You are a busy - and productive - beaver!

Dr Guy... here's an additional load of very useful (and free) disk utilities for various purposes (SysInternals):

I actually have most of those.  But I am in a very generous mood today, so please share them with everyone on the forums!

Thanks for all your info,Doc   This will be "added" to my collection.

And, to "better" thanx you, I want to tell you about WinContig http://www.ilovefreesoftware.com/01/windows/file/wincontig-defragment-individual-files.html , a free and great defrag utility that allows  you to select individual files or folder for defrag rather than the entire HD. Of course, is even possible to defrag the entire disk. On the posted link you can get all the info, and download link as well.

WinContig doesn't require installation, and it doesn't write anything in system registry. It's very quick, safe ,configurable, light and effective.

Just give it a try!!
