Ramblings of an old Doc

Caught this fresh out of Oslo…. Opera’s newest entry in the browser game is “Opera Now”.

Looks the same, so what’s new? Password sync, a revamped speed dial that:

“Now, in Opera Swordfish, those screens can actually show dynamic widgets, so, as Opera notes, those screens can show a snapshot from a weather-forecasting page - or, if it's programmed appropriately, that screen can show you a personalized weather report. Opera also improved Opera Link, the service that Opera previously used to synchronize bookmarks, notes, Speed Dial links, and other useful information. Now, Opera said, users can sync passwords as well, securely.

With Opera Next, you can have it both ways: you can keep your existing installation of Opera and install the 11.50 alpha as a separate product. By keeping preferences and settings separate, Opera keeps your existing data safe.” – PCMag

I’m trying it out now, and I can tell you one thing, it’s as fast as greased lightning.

In Opera 11.5 final will be implemented support for WebGL (it looks like still not done in 11.5 alpha). Have you got any news about WebGL security issues?

inthebloodofeden, the only thing I remember about WebGL security issues was from the threat post -

http://threatpost.com/en_us/blogs/researchers-warn-security-issues-webgl-standard-051111

which delineates lots of threat possibilities. Not actualities.

Hope this helps.

I already knew about that, Doc. There has been other thread on the same issue on WC forum as well. I disabled since a while WebGL in Pale Moon (Chrome is not installed in my machines).

Hope they will find a kind of solution before stable release (they could even think about implementing support in a next browser's version , because to fix WebGL vulnerabilities big changes are required), otherwise it will be necessary to disable WebGL in Opera 11.5 final as well.
