Ramblings of an old Doc

Lifehacker (one of my most favorite sites to visit and learn things) published their Top 10 MicroApps for Windows and Mac.

I'm really happy to relay that "Fences" was chosen among the top ten yet again!

i've uninstalled fences because it frequently reboots disfunctional. Fences interface works, but the icons are stuck. Annoying. It didn't do that till W7 SP1 so i guess it's ms's doing.

petrossa - Do you have the free edition, or Fences Pro?

I'm not an expert, but have you tried uninstalling the "Fences" you currently have (I'd think you should also get rid of the current settings) and reinstalling it?

If you have Fences Pro, you can also address the issue with support@stardock.com

i have Fences Pro, and did all the uninstalling/rebooting/installing. Added to that between time i changed computers. So this current one is totally sparkling new with a freshly installed version of Windows7 x64  with SP1.

Since it happens on both computers, it worked before SP1 and doesn't with SP1 there's something awry. Contacting Stardock isn't that useful, since as nobody else seems to complain it's not rampant yet.

I agree there's something awry. I really would encourage you to contact SD support. Your OS and x64 are supported. When you do, prepare a list of software in common on both computers, and let them know that.... I'm sure something like a software conflict is at the base of it, or perhaps a driver issue.

Were your antiviral and firewall off when you installed? I have W7SP1 Home Premium x64 and W7 Pro x32 with no problems so I'd think you should take a look at what other software you have in common on both computers and see if disabling it/them might not make a difference.

What do you have to lose? I'd love to be updated about what you find. In any case. Good luck!
