Ramblings of an old Doc

I came across a really good article this morning, and wanted to share it with you all: WindowTabs.

For XP users, I’m sure you remember QTTabs. Until now, nothing like it has existed for 7 users, except “Tiles”.

In the free version, three windows can be dragged together under one Tab. For a year subscription ($19), you can have an unlimited number of windows per tab, and updates for that year.

There’s a well illustrated “Features” page here: http://www.windowtabs.com/features/

I’m hoping Stardock comes up with something better (it usually does), but until then you can use this.

From WindowTabs website, a nice vid.

This would be usefull for working but 19usd for just a year of support is a bit overpriced ( nicely spoken) I think normaly tools like that are free.
Anyway nice find

This is the free version that allows 3 windows per tab, Rollo.

There's also a pay for... that one has an unlimited number of windows per tab, and updates for the program for a year.

Sorry if that wasn't clear from the OP.

I hear what you say JBHL, still I agree with Rolo, software like this is usually free. Of course I don't take away peoples rights to make a buck on their hard work, but this is what happens when software makers get us use to freebees. LOL.

I think the free version sounds fine. I don't usually have that many windows open at the same time anyways. I wonder though, do you know if this works as 3 tabs per window or is it only 3 tabs all together and thats it? Gotta try this out.

Gee Doc, you must be psychic My girlfriend was just saying like two days ago how she wanted all of her windows to be tabable (is that even a word?) Thanks for the heads up!

Oh yeah, here's some karma.

I, personally, am torn on the program. I like the idea of tabbed windows, but, call me petty, but I don't like the tab on top of the windows. It bothers me. But, I'm OCD with my computer (I can't have more than 3 or 4 icons on the desktop, despite the 1080p resolution. I also HATE seeing anything in the recycle bin).

i notice some flaws, on some skins the tab thing is not actually on the caption of the window frame its floating in the air.

so its not realy compatible with windowblinds but it should do its job until SD invented something similar.
Also i recommend you to not use itr while rendering- just to spare you the frustration afterwards.
But i cant confirm that it was caused by this tool. All i know is that my render was messy afterwards.

You are not alone. Not only do I love fences because it hides the icons from my view but if I do see them and see one is not in a fence I just have to do something about it. I also cant see anything in the recycle bin without getting a strong urge to do something about it. If I was in a movie and was to be murdered by an exploding computer, the recycling bin would be a guaranteed way to get me to do it myself. LOL.

Do you mean QTTabbar for explorer? Because that does work on 7 (even x64).

^ But only in explorer, and this is rather different...

And Hi Bebi!

SYSTEM FILES SYSTEM FILES SYSTEM FILES.......Seems to me that over time adding too many "outside" apps eventually mess up the computer. They screw with the system files and eventually the computer becomes first neurotic and eventually has a nervous breakdown. I'm being very careful about that. I am also staying away from Give Away of the day. Seems like a lot of that stuff is just crap software. I'm not saying this one is Doc but I have to ask myself what do I really need? Don't really need this one.
