Over at Lifehacker, there’s a super piece of software (granted, still in Beta) for video editing for free.
Lightworks, according to Adam Dachis (who really knows his stuff) is really worth it, and the folks at at Lightworks have taken it open source so all you have to do is to register there to download and keep it.
This is not trialware. Although I can’t promise it, I believe updates will be free also. There’s a Forum there where you can ask questions also.
So…what’s in it? Dachis writes, “Lightworks handles most of what you'd expect from a professional editing application, such as video capture and import, GPU-accelerated real time effects (that you can layer on top of one another), color correction that doesn't suck (which is more than I can say for Final Cut's plug-ins), broad format support, and an autosave that just happens instantly without bothering you.”
I figured you might like to take a look… so have at it, WC’ers. You might be getting in on the ground floor for free!
