That's part of it, Uvah. There are people in the Community who might be able to use this info to help in their computing tasks for a host of reasons.

Sorry, Karen... this is just for private use, and I was really trying to aim more for folks with disabilities....

Also as a solution for ZubaZ's "problem".

Forgiven?

It's only going to get worse in the transcription field too. Are you an independent transcriptionist?

HA! They've not invented a device to deal with such onslaught of the English language yet!!

No, I'm an employee for a service.  Fortunately the company I work for now has recognized a little bit of my leadership qualities, and I'm also working the customer service end of the business on Sundays and Mondays while I'm transcribing, for which I get an extra $50, plus the benefit of being able to add "lead transcriptionist" to my job resume.

If I didn't need a food permit to break into the field, I'm really loving cake decorating, which is a hobby I just started recently.  Here's my last 2 projects:

ZubaZ's problem could be solved with the auto-correct feature used in most word expanders.  Speech rec is only a solution if the data being input is correct -- the computer can't "know what you meant" and transcribe what you meant to say, as opposed to what you actually said...hence the need for editors (who don't get paid well, because they're simply word janitors).  Before speech rec, editors were well paid because their job wasn't cleaning up the mess the computer made; their job was quality control done on a microscopic scale.

No need to ask for forgiveness, Seth.  It's progress -- I can't really bitch about the damage speech rec has caused me personally, while owning a cell phone and being able to type on a computer, rather than a manual typewriter, without making myself into a huge hypocrite.

I'll find some way to make ends meet if/when the whole field disappears -- I'm resourceful.
