Ramblings of an old Doc

The update for Windows 11 21H2 this month is designated KB5013943 and will take your system to OS Build 22000.675.

If it doesn't screw your computer up first.

Were I you, I'd put off getting this Patch Tuesday update for a while...at least until MS can fix it.

Neowin has published regarding patch KB5013943 and its associated problems today and thanks to Hankers tipping me off, you might just avoid some problems.

You can read about the issues in the article linked above. Apparently reinstalling .Net framework 3.5 solved the problems for some, but this isn't an official fix, and it didn't fix the Event Viewer.

Forewarned is forearmed...thanks, Hank.

*edit: PhoenixRising1 has also found an excellent link regarding this MS patch at Bleeping Computer. Thanks, PhoenixRising1!

Then i took the leap of faith and tried something new or new to me, played about with various Backup apps to see what suited me best. Now i use Macruim Reflect, it is fast, reliable and does all i need it to

My MSI is a hybrid. C drive is a SSD, and just programs. D drive is data only (pics, dl's, etc.) and is an HDD.

I'm trying to figure out how to back up C and D together on an external drive, and or which app will do that for me. I do own Acronis Home.

Any thoughts?

Did I mention that I dumped Windows 11  and went back to Windows 10.   Umm...yeah....didn't like my computer shutting off all by itself every 10-15 minutes for no apparent reason , windows update stopped updating and gave me error codes instead. Then come to find out that you don't actually own Windows 11 or your computer that it's installed on. I've had it with Corporations telling me what I can and can't do. There are other alternatives out there and I'm researching those at the moment.

Re backups....

Every 24 hours...at around 2am my C drive is automatically imaged....with older versions auto-deleted after about 14 days.

Every week or so those images are backed up to an external drive...also auto-cleaned.

Every morning active folders...eg office, email, pictures, docs, skins are backed up to a second drive, and each week those are backed to a second drive, again external.

Sometimes when I remember all of that goes yet again to another external drive that resides in a fire safe.

I cannot stress enough the importance of backup....

Ideal. Wait...all fine and dandy, but "docs"?!

Yep Jafo, can not argue with that routine, does all it needs to and more.

Sorry Doc, right now i have nothing for you , never had to do that type of backup, i will look at the settings in Macruim Reflect to see if it has any ideas.

Ace.

Why do you not own the Computer Win 11 is stored on. No one owns my Hardware set up  except me, i paid for it, not even MS can claim ownership of my Hardware, even though i use Win11, it is set up correctly to give MS almost nothing, do not use an MS account or the Store.

I've updated my Asus Vivobook laptop, (it came with Win 11 installed) and it's been running fine, so far on the patch update.

Me too don, i know win 11 has given loads of peeps issues, but so far i have enjoyed using it and i hope to continue in that way. Really looking forward to the Feature update to see what it brings. I have read plenty of articles but you never really know until it lands.

Really glad you guys didn't have problems.

Others, less fortunate, were helped by the info here, thanks to Hankers and PhoenixRising1, which made my day.
