Seriously, MS is getting weirder and weirder...

It goes like this...

B Updates: They're the Patch Tuesday Updates.

"The big updates most people are familiar with come out on “Patch Tuesday,” the second Tuesday of the month. These are called “B” updates because they’re released in the second week of the month. That explains why there are no “A” updates, as Microsoft doesn’t generally release updates in the first week of the month.

B updates are the most important updates, featuring new security fixes. They also contain previously released security fixes from prior B updates and previously released bug fixes from prior C and D updates.

They’re the main, most important type of Windows Update. They’re also predictable for system administrators, who know when to expect them."

C and D Updates:

“C” and “D” updates are released in the third and fourth weeks of the month, respectively. These do not include any new security updates.

These updates just include new bug fixes and improvements for other non-security issues. Microsoft says C and D updates are “optional,” and Windows Update won’t automatically install them on your PC.

According to Microsoft, “D” updates typically include the majority of non-security updates. This gives people a few weeks to test them before those non-security fixes are released to everyone in the next B update. Microsoft sometimes releases “C” updates in the third week of the month for Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and older versions of Windows 10, which gives people more time to test them."

What really matters is when and how you update!

Windows Update doesn’t automatically install C and D updates on most PCs. However, it does install C and D updates when you head to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click “Check for Updates.” In Microsoft’s world, this makes you a “seeker” who wants to test these updates before most Windows users get them. Microsoft disclosed this in a recent blog post.

So, if you click “Check for Updates” in the third, fourth, or first week of a month before the next B update has been released, you’ll probably get a C or D update installed on your system. If you never click “Check for Updates,” you’ll stick with the better-tested B updates.

All of the above is true. So help me. We've stepped through the mirror for sure, this time.

Sooo...now you know. B's on first, C and D are on third and fourth but only before B.

Sort of like "i" and "e" before "c"... but then, that's a different "c".

And with that I'll just say...

Mac user's aren't much better than us - but at least they're used to it, it's what they signed up for. When I chose Windows I didn't sign up for any of this.

In the past Mac users were worse off than Windows users, but that is no longer true.  With the direction Microsoft has chosen, Windows users are worse off.... and it's going to get worse yet.

Nobody who chose Windows signed up for any of this, but Microsoft stopped caring about users the day Nadella was made CEO.  Now Microsoft dangles a few carrots for the yuppie set to keep it interested, but regular users no longer get a second thought.

We're not customers any more but a captive herd, and Microsoft does what it wants when it wants

If it weren't for GCIII this herd member would be going to Umbuntu or ReactOS.

Probably React since I am used to editing audio and video with windows programs.

Satya or whoever is in charge of Windows is anti-consumer. I think Satya's herd will be reduced from 1.5 billion to 1 billion in five years. If competition was stronger it would already have happened.

My main problem with Nadella is that he pretends to be a nice guy - hypocrites are the worst. I would prefer someone like Ballmer. If someone complains about Windows, he would probably yell "Deal with it, motherf---er". That would be a more transparent and honest way to communicate your position.

My problem with mainstream media is that they put leaders on a pedestal and never ask them tough questions. As long as mainstream media don't turn against you, you can get away with pretty much anything.

The Windows Personal Computer is dead. It's controlled from MS headquarters. If they feel like installing new firmware (and potentially brick you PC), they can do that. I was contemplating using Windows again, but I'm worried about my hardware.

Windows is/was the best desktop OS with the best desktop programs. I guess that’s why I still care.

Yeah, like Daiwa I never thought I would ever say this, but I too miss Balmer lol

If Ubuntu and other Linux distros become more mainsteam sooner rather than later, it'll be sooner than that.  As it is, quite a few people are migrating to Mac because of Microsoft's arrogance and attitude... and quite a few Windows programs are being developed for Mac now, making it less of a leap into the unknown.

And then there's ReactOS, which runs many Windows programs.  If/when ReactOS becomes mainstream, which hopefully is sooner rather than later, Windows will really be in trouble.  The mighty empire Bill Gates founded will become a bit player because of the direction Nadella has taken it.... with arrogance.

Well he's doing a piss poor job at pretending, then.  I hoped that Nadella would breathe new, fresh life into MS after Ballmer, but I was sadly disappointed.  Since he took over I've seen him as nothing but a self-serving asshole with no regard whatsoever for customers and/or users.

Yeah, bring back Ballmer, bring back Ballmer.
