Also, buggy Creator's Update warning
Published on April 30, 2017 By DrJBHL In Personal Computing

"Both updates are listed as compatibility updates for Windows 10 Version 1703. To make this clearer: these are dynamic updates and not updates that most users will come into contact with directly. They may be added to Windows 10 ISO images or installation sources, and are also provided during installation when the operating system runs an update check." gHacks.

By the way, RedneckDude has noted that MS has requested people not to download and install the Creator's Update before MS makes it available through Windows Update.

There's a solid reason for this. MS has received complaints of a buggy update...especially with bluetooth accessory connectivity: "“Our feedback process identified a Bluetooth accessory connectivity issue with PCs that use a specific series of Broadcom radios, ultimately resulting in devices not reconnecting as expected,” MS blog notes.

"Redmond has recommended users to wait till the problems get fixed and Creators Update is automatically pushed to their systems." - Fossbytes.

Thanks, Jim. I thought this affected relatively few users, but apparently it's more than that.

Damn. I already updated last week to the creator's update. No issues, but I haven't tried Bluetooth. I did notice that update KB4016240 disabled my WiFi so I had to uninstall that one. Funny thing is that Windows 10 says it's installed in my update history, but the system itself reports it is uninstalled. LOL.

Just about every PC that I have CU on has a driver error in Dev. Mgr.  Had no such problem before.

And what's worse, MS pushed it on me. I never upgraded to CU on purpose.

I have noted though, that the other 4 or 5 PCs I use have not yet upgraded. MS is apparently holding back.  GOOD!

Just upgraded my spare laptop to Windows 10 CU (1703), checked Device Manager and everything is fine, no problems whatsoever.

Mine's all fine too.  I'm all pretty generic though, except for a relatively ancient and odd little sound card - I figure it'll be the first to get whacked.

No issues with Creator's Update thus far, either.   Funnily enough, despite various warnings, etc, this is the first major update I've not had issues with in Win 10.  I did get it, however, via Windows Update after running a check and downloaded it using the update service.

Well maybe the Creator's Update ain't so good after all.  After getting some new family photos I decided to update family members drives with the new files, only to discover that several drives weren't being recognised or were only showing 2Tb.  Now these drives were showing correctly prior to the Creator's Update, but not anymore, nor can they be initiated in Disc Management or EaseUS Partition Manager.  I've had to connect them to my HP 2-in-1, which is also Win 10 but not Creator's Update, and they all read correctly

Oh well, the assumption that all was well with CU was good while it lasted.
