Ramblings of an old Doc
Happy 100th US National Parks Service!

Something definitely non-tech for your Sunday. How about a 360° tour of five National Parks?

Google is offering this in celebration of the 100 year Anniversary of the National Parks Service.

The parks include: The Kenjai Fjords of Alaska (with climbing and rappelling – stunning beauty!), Hawai'i Volcanoes (a drone over the craters), Carlsbad Caverns, Bryce Canyon and the Dry Tortugas (diving a shipwreck and Fort Jefferson).

It's accessible right from your browser, no downloads needed. Each presentation by National Parks Service Ranger experts has panoramas and video footage...absolutely stunning!

There's also extra media hidden behind clickable thumbs. Google added to it and made a “Museum Hub”...with documents, hi-res photos and artefacts.

All quite cool and truly worthwhile...and not at all evil. I found myself disappointed when presentations ended. “MOAR!”.

You should turn teachers on to this...all that's needed for virtual “Expeditions” is the Expeditions app. You can read more about it here: https://www.engadget.com/2016/08/25/google-offers-360-degree-tours-of-us-national-parks/

Good onya Google and thanks to Engadget for a cool post.º “Happy Anniversary U.S. National Parks Service!”.
