Merle Haggard–Dies on his 79th birthday.

Merle passed away in his home in Redding, CA today, his manager confirmed. He’d recently been hospitalized with recurrent bouts of pneumonia, and COPD.

Haggard is a Country Music Hall of Fame inductee and was recently nominated for yet another Grammy for his duet with Don Henley.

Rest in peace, Merle. You made life better for many.

One of my all time favourite songs is his: 'Lonesome Fugitive'... a country, blues number that draws you in.

And yes, Merle Haggard enriched the lives of many with his music.

R.I.P. Merle Haggerd. The flesh is gone but your spirit will forever live on in your songs.
