Ramblings of an old Doc

So, I don’t have to explain what ransomware is…

Download this fella, install it (it’ll appear in the systray). Click on the green wheel to cofigure the program’s general settings. Then click on the “Immunization” slider and turn it to the “On” position. Done.

So…what does it do? It does not allow executable files from %appdata% and %startup% to run.

Your computer will now be protected against CryptoWall and CTB-Locker ransomware.

Other steps to take against ransomeware: here.

Download site for Anti-Ransomeware (CryptoWall Vaccine): here.

1. herdprotect is on the net...you dl a small file then th site scans your machine. It isn't an antiviral.

2. EMET is a mitigator...if you get a virus, it limits damage by rules it sets up. Again, not an antiviral.

3. anti-ransomware isn't an antiviral either...all I'm suggesting is a layered defense.

I have never used those or even heard of them so that is why I asked. Thanks for the info.
