Ramblings of an old Doc

Some pretty minor changes…GUI became flat, but the layout is unchanged (whew!).

Biggest change is the ability to manage and/or uninstall Chrome extensions – Tools>Startup>Google Chrome.

Might be a bit faster…hard to tell.

You can find it here: https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds

starkers ....if the Analyse/clean buttons are inactive initially it's due to the addon for the extra apps.  They take a while to scan....typically 30 seconds or so....and that's what I get in ver 4....haven't bothered with 5 yet...

starkers and Jafo...did you note Jaroepz 's response #10...

Jaroepz

Great addition Doc...thanks... it slowed the ccleaner program down a bit with the winapp2 file cause of all the new additions in the file but you can trim the new winapp2 file by running this batch file....  http://www.winapp2.com/trim.bat ...just put it in the ccleaner directory and run it      it will take out all the new apps in the winapp2 file that dont apply to your specific rig....nice!

Might be worth trying if it annoys you that much...

No, it's not that.  I left it for 20 minutes or more while I did something else, and still they were inactive when I got back to it.  Not only that, the proggie freezes up during scans and requires a taskmanager shutdown.  I looked on the Piriform forums and others are having the same unresolved issue on Vista, Win 7 and Win 8, though most complaints appear to be x64 based.

For now I think I'll just go back to the previous version, at least until a fix is found.

I'll stick to the old version. That flat gui is nasty.

FWIW, works without issue on my Win7Pro x64 rigs (2).  Also seems faster than prior versions in cleaning & reg scanning. Obviously, YMMV.

^That. On my W7 Home Premium x64 not a hiccup...no flickering...just does what it ought to do.

Well it seems I have fixed the issues.. touch wood.

Nah, I simply downloaded another copy of 5 and installed it.  Now the installation didn't go as smoothly in the first instance, and that may have been the problem... a bodgie download.  this time, however, the installation was as smooth as a babies bum and the proggie is working as it should.

It doesn't bother me!  For one, it isn't on-screen long enough to matter; and two, I've seen uglier things on a PC... XP with the Fisher Price look hurt my eyes a hell of alot more.

I like this new GUI. Thanks!
