Ramblings of an old Doc

I know you guys don’t get very excited about Adobe anymore (since the update model changed), but it might be worth looking at the live webcast today at 1 pm.

You can find the webcast here: https://creativecloud.adobeevents.com/ccnext/?sdid=KLUAV

So far, the newest feature revealed is the Focus mask: http://youtu.be/ARFbJQxgjSA

Described here: http://petapixel.com/2014/06/12/sneak-peek-useful-focus-selection-tool-coming-photoshop-cc-june-18th/

Update:

It's one heck of a change. Not doing to drill down into the changes in each app. There will be tons of that on the web in short order. The main themes were new apps, integration between desk top, mobile pads and phones, sharing and the creative community as well as instantaneous updating and syncing.

First of all, Adobe is into devices now: Ink and Slide: A pen to draw on your iPad and a ruler which together with the Creative Cloud will give all sorts of presets as well as being pressure sensitive, favorite colors, a T-Square for architectural drawings, two point perspective with vanishing points and guides, various preset shapes and French Curves, stamps, - a whole library of furniture, etc. It will do water color and blend colors as well as charcoal drawings in a pressure sensitive device all options available from an onscreen menu by pressing a button on the pen (pictures: http://www.cnet.com/products/adobe-ink-and-slide/).

If you remember when Island Dog published about the Surface Pro 3 and the Photoshop app I commented it would be great if there were a stylus...this is it and it'll give Cintique a run for the money, well...there's big news there as well.

A new app: Photoshop Mix: You can do cropping, masking, refine edge in selections, perspective tools (upright), content aware fill, and more...even without the Ink and Slide (together @ $199.99) using a finger.

Adobe Sketch: Produce layers of sketches and sync to the Cloud...as projects and in Behance follow artists and share to get responses, teaching, social media integration with your photos/sketches, etc. on Instagram, face book, etc. charcoal and watercolors with the Line & Edge.

Light Room Mobile: for iPad, iPhone social media and Behance/Creative Cloud syncing in both directions and to all the other apps.

Let's say you don't have the app on the mobile device...no biggy. use the full app on the Cloud and sync between apps. All of them.

Creative Cloud Photography: will include from today: PsCC, Lr, - desktop, mobile and web, Mobile sync and edit. Permanent deal: $9.99/month.

Today: Photoshop Mix, Light Room mobile, Adobe Live, Adobe Sketch all free in the Adobe Store. Unclear for how long.

Creative SDK: for 3rd party developers, you can join in developing the Adobe apps.

There was a good deal more..I was jotting down notes and got 4 pages of them. Will share links as write ups become available online.

There's a WHOLE lot new, folks. Stay tuned.
