Thanks to TechRepublic for this great series of “how tos” by Greg Schultz.
Thanks for the tip(s) Doc. A friend has Win8 and these will be useful.
Here's my Windows 8 useful link: http://www.classicshell.net/
This freeware app will boot you past the Metro UI into classic desktop. Windows 8 becomes more like Windows 7. Once you set up programs (such as PDF) to open up with regular programs and not the Metro Apps you almost never have to see the Metro interface again.
Thanks Doc for the links.Just starting with win 8 .My kids bought me a new pc for my birthday and i am getting the feel for this new os.
Make sure to make your emergency boot disks and an external backup of your OS.
Having the OS on a flash stick should be a priority also. Glad to be of help.
Some more useful stuff from the Doc. Thank you.
Nice find, Doc!
I made a Recovery Drive on a flash drive, cool. But in doing so, I screwed up and formatted my storage drive, which had all my archived stuff on it....bummer.
So, if anyone is gonna make the Recovery Drive on a USB flash drive, don't do what I did, be SURE you pick the correct drive as your recovery drive destination.
