Ramblings of an old Doc

Frequently after a malware infection, you lose settings.

This tool will restore them:

  • Reset Registry Permissions
  • Reset File Permissions
  • Register System Files
  • Repair WMI
  • Repair Windows Firewall
  • Repair Internet Explorer
  • Repair MDAC & MS Jet
  • Repair Hosts File
  • Remove Policies Set By Infections
  • Repair Icons
  • Repair Winsock & DNS Cache
  • Remove Temp Files
  • Repair Proxy Settings
  • Unhide Non System Files
  • Repair Windows Updates

and more stuff. It’s a tool worth having, and what’s neat is that if you had an earlier version and a problem with it, this version will fix that.

So what’s new here?

  • Per user request the main repair window is now resizable.
  • Added 11 new file association repairs. What makes these repairs different than just clicking a reg file is on vista and newer some of the keys are locked. Since the program runs the repairs under the system account these repairs have access to those locked keys.
  • Added a "Tips" button that loads a page on the site with some tips on which repairs to run and tricks you can do with the program.
  • Changed the list in the program to a tree view.
  • Some repairs are now unchecked by default now instead of all repairs checked.
  • Many code changes.

I included a video of the utility since it saves me a lot of “busy” work with screenshots. You can see the features of the program, and hear some background on its developer.

If you have suggestions about the tool you can email the dev: shawn@tweaking.com

By the way, it’s an exe which can be put in your “toolbox on a stick”.

Added 11 new file association repairs.

Nice having these actually incorporated into a tool.  I've referenced these type of files in the past and never got around to compiling them all locally.   Yay new tool!
