Ramblings of an old Doc

For folks in the path of Sandy and for those concerned about them Google has launched its Crisis map.

You can find it here:  http://google.org/crisismap/2012-sandy

It’s built on the base of Google Maps, but has a ton of info and additional deeper menus in the right side bar.

Hope all in the affected areas are doing what they should, and are safe.

Google… good for you on this one!

That's good news about Giz, that he's safe and well... hopefully his power will be back on soon.

I'm glad to see you're okay, Ross.  I was worried about you, knowing you were in the vicinity and had not long gotten all set up, but I'm relieved that you only lost power for a while and not a lot more.

As for everyone else, WC members [some I know and others I don't] and all who were in Sandy's path, here's hoping you were not too badly affected and that your lives can go back to normal sooner rather than later.

Don't think anyone missed me but just in case wanted to let you all know i'm fine and back on. I live in southern New Jersey so don't think i have to say anymore. Other then a couple minor repairs my home is fine. Lost a small place I had on the coast as it got picked up, broken up and washed away and the area where it was is no more. Insurance didn't cover it so the town can have the land or should I say the 10 foot of sand that is now covering the area. Owned it with three other men and really haven't used it but a very few times since my wife passed. All is well and again I'm fine.

Glad you're ok!

Hey Dave, we're glad everyone's ok... Didn't remember you living near the water... but Ross, you and Giz are all ok. That is great news!

Hey guys! Thanks for thinking about me. Got power back around 9:20PM Thursday night. The storm went through here like a freight train...lots of downed trees...smashed cars and homes...power lines down everywhere. They estimated around 269,000 were without power but mostly everyone is back on the grid. They still say that some 50,000 will be without power for anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks...mostly out in the country side areas.

And now they say we has a nor easter on the way that could cause more problems. This time I ordered a propane heater just in case. This last time it was just candles for heat and a radio. Went bonkers not being able to get on here...who the hell said silence was golden...my ears were ringing from the silence!

@ WebGizmos, what part of Jersey do you live, I live in Paterson, we didn't lose power, but two blocks over everything is out going down on Market Street...A few thosand, may be a few hundred now, but gas lines is what is really crazy...

Great to see you back, bud. Hope that Nor'easter doesn't materialize.

The storm coming is weak compared to Sandy. Mostly rain and high winds, like rubbing salt into a wound. Too early to tell yet but when there's an image posted I'll put it up here.

Great to see you back, bud.

Thank you so much sir...

Hope that noreaster doesn't materialize.

I know right, but I have a question. How is it that European forecasters are predicting the weather better than our own NWS (National Weather Service).

They were dead on about Sandy and they our calling for the Nor'easter...?

G_Bison... Glad to have you back.

I don't have lists of where folks live, but when I try to find your personal page, I just get kicked back to the home page. Your profile just says "United States".

Damned bunch of Yankees if you ask me, personally I was hatched in Houston, grown in Charleston and now I’m stuck in Evansville. I did ride out hurricane Hugo in Charleston, it leveled the place. Glad you’re alright Steve.
