Jarte 4.2:

This is one Word Processor I use and have found it to be unique and a great deal of fun! Jarte is similar to Microsoft's WordPad, but that’s where the similarity ends.

Here’s a screenie from my machine:

Mousing over different options makes the Left Sidebar menu change. It’s a rather novel and spiffy alternative to every WP I’ve ever encountered. It’s even customizable with it’s own skins. P.S. - the recipes are delish!

There’s a plethora of features available on the free edition: http://tinyurl.com/bt4m9p

Download it! http://tinyurl.com/8lwvc

LibreOffice 3.3 Release Candidate 4

To be even handed and to present the latest update to OpenOffice (the prior being OpenOffice 3.2) here’s the rebranded LibreOffice 3.3 (basically an update of OpenOffice 3.2).

While Jarte 4.2 is a word processor, LibreOffice is a full office suite made to be a free alternative to MS Office.

The new features and fixes are available for your perusal here: http://tinyurl.com/18r

Here’s a bit of history from the Wikipedia, “On September 28, 2010, some members of the OpenOffice.org Project formed a new group called The Document Foundation, and made available a rebranded fork of OpenOffice.org which was based on OpenOffice.org 3.3 beta version. The fork was created over fears that Oracle Corporation, after buying out the project's former sponsor, Sun MicroSystems, would discontinue OpenOffice.org as they had done with OpenSolaris.”

It is now an independent organization.

Here’s a screen shot:

Both are free!

LibreOffice 3.3 RC 4 is available for Download: http://tinyurl.com/3a9aj8s

The download site checks your OS and should make the proper version available.

I use Open Office and the version I have is 3.1. Good to know they're still around.

You can update that edition. There have been quite a few changes since 3.1, Uvah.

I downloaded the new one. Its sitting in my dl folder waiting patiently for me to do the install. Had to do a re-install of PS as it was starting to act up. Funny thing that, gonna hijack just for a second, I was using photoshop and it wasn't even installed according to both control panel and Revo uninstaller. I think it had something to do with the way I uninstalled the trial version of CS5. Revo does clean very deep indeed.

Thanks for the update!   There's also useful info re Gimp... a beta release with "cage transform"... I'm thinking this might be like "Warp" in Ps.

Blender makes 38 as opposed to 107. Besides I've had blender way back when 2.47b came out.
